Get to Know Me

Website Photo.jpeg

I'm Brooke, I'm glad you could be here.

Hello there! Below this, I will be sharing a little bit of information about the type of relationship that I aim for us to have in the space we make together, the type of work I do, and about me both professionally and personally. It can be really overwhelming to figure out what therapist is best suited  for where your at in your life  Aiming to reduce some of the stress, I want to be as open as possible about how I hold space for my clients along with a little bit about who I am as a person outside of our space. One last thing before you read on, I am not practicing individually as I work for and under the supervision of Healing Life Counseling. No need to worry though! This does not change our time together substantially, but it does mean that things such as billing, supervision, etc. are handled through the practice.

My Story

For as long as I can remember, I have had a strong calling to be a part of the helping field and to be a witness of people's journey's through all of it including the challenges to the triumphs. Each relationship will look a little different with my clients as everyone has particular needs which requires specific care. Generally though, I aim to provide services that are built on a foundation of trust, curiosity, unconditional acceptance, compassionate challenging, honesty and humor. Once again, while everyone requires different approaches, I generally try to curate this relationship through various modalities such as mindfulness/somatic-based, psychodynamic, parts-work, multicultural and narrative-based techniques which each can be read further in depth about in the Therapy Style section. As a therapist, somedays I might show up dressed more what is deemed as "professional" whereas other days I show up dressed more casual. Regardless of the day, I include that to let you know that my goal is to not have our space or you feel as though that it has to be formal and that you can be authentic in all aspects of yourself whether it be your appearance, demeanor, feelings, and more.

As far as my academic and professional  background goes, I graduated from  Arizona State University with my master's in mental health counseling where I was fortunately provided with much internship and excellent  supervision experience. My internship while as ASU was completed at Fit Mind Wellness! Additionally,  I have a brief history of case management as well while I was obtaining my bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Akron.

Just so you can get to know me a a little bit personally if you want, I was born and raised in Pittsburgh which is a city with rich history, people (called "yinzers") with lots of personality, and lots of hills. Outside of the therapeutic setting, I enjoy spending time with my 2 cats at home who always make life interesting. I also enjoy many leisurely activities like being outdoors, meditating, exercising with my partner, and engaging in creative activities such as writing, painting, singing, etc.
